Top 5 Reasons You Should Hire a Wedding Planner

So you’re probably thinking- why do I need a Wedding Planner or Coordinator? Are they really worth the money? Weddings are expensive, after all! Well, here are the top 5 reasons why you should consider hiring a Wedding Planner or Coordinator for your wedding:

#1- They have experience: Your wedding planner is kind of like your friend or bridesmaid that has been in a ga-zillion weddings and knows the basic structure of wedding day events, tips and tricks for planning, how to personalize your big day, and give you suggestions on elements that will work or not work. Only difference is, your Wedding Planner has been to a lot more weddings and can give you solid advice based on experience.  They are a wealth of knowledge!

Think: Escort Cards vs. Seating Chart, When do I send out save the dates/ invites?, Help- I need favor ideas!, Cocktail Reception vs. Buffet vs. Seated Dinner

#2- They have a network: Think about how many wedding vendors you are currently or will be working with for your wedding (usually 20+)- now multiply that by several weddings per year. Your wedding planner has a vast network of wedding vendors that he or she has previously worked with and has experience with. They can tell you the good, the bad, and the ugly and help recommend the correct vendors for your style and price point. Sometimes their suggestions might even save you money- enough that they pay for themselves!

Think: Venues, Caterer, DJ, Officiant, Hair and Makeup, Rentals, Transportation

#3- They are really organized: Wedding planners are usually extremely organized and very logistical people. They have no issues planning out the day, minute by minute, and ensuring everything will run smoothly for your guests. They think about all of those behind the scenes details that you might not even know to think of!

Think: Day-of Timeline, How will we get our XYZ to the ceremony or reception?, What about the marriage license?

#4- They have great people skills: Wedding planners are usually super outgoing and friendly and are your typical, down to earth, “people person”. They work with LOTS of personalities on a daily basis and can offer advice on how to navigate through vendor communications and family situations that may arise while planning.

Think: Family politics, This person is fighting with that person- where should I seat everyone?, I’ve reached out to my XYZ vendor but haven’t heard back- what should I do?

#5- They can think quick on their feet: Something is bound to go “wrong” on your wedding day, but you know what? That’s OK! Nothing ever goes as planned (& no one can predict the future perfectly) but your wedding planner is that one person who will have your back and has the experience to make sure that unexpected events can be fixed quickly and quietly so you never even know what happened until after the wedding. This leaves you unlimited time to enjoy your night- stress free!

Think: Stain removals, vendor mishaps, unaccounted for guests at the reception, etc.
